Bonus Chips and Reputation Points are earned on every action here at Poqery. So for every question, answer, comment, like etc, you earn both Bonus Chips and Reptation Points.
You can spend the Bonus Chips on highlighting your questions and answers. What does Highlighting do? When you highlight a Question it gives that question special sort order priority and also gives it highlighted graphics. Most importantly it sets up a reward that goes to the best answer. Hopefully that will incentivise other people to answer your question so they can get the reward!
Reputation Points are a way to measure how active you have been on Poqery. Unlike Bonus Chips, you cannot spend Reputation Points so they can only go up and never down.
Generally speaking, people with the highest Reputation Point total have been the most active. In some cases those people can get a big big boost in reputation if they answer a question with a big Bonus Chip reward. Why? Because every Bonus Chip you earn also earns you 1 Reputation Point. So if you are designated the best answer for a question with a 1000 Bonus Chip reward, you will earn the Bonus Chips and also another 1000 Reputation points.
